META tags are HTML Tags that
describe various attributes of a web page, and are particularly useful in
helping search engines to catalog and categorize a web page. If your pages
do not contain them then they may not get categorized the way you‘d like
by the search engines.
An HTML document consists of a Header section and a Body section.
Search engines now look at the content (Body section) of
your web page, but most search engines will still use at least some of the information that is
presented in the Header section. This is where the META tags go -
between the <head> and the </head> tags.
In addition to the Meta Tags, the ‘Title‘ of your page plays an important
role in helping search engines (and visitors) to determine the content of
your site. We recommend that you at least include the 'Title',
'Keywords', ‘Description‘, and ‘Robots‘ information.
Here‘s an easy to way to generate
"robot
friendly" Title and META tags for any web page.
Fill in
the form and hit ‘submit‘. Paste the results in the header of your
HTML page, between the <head> and closing </head>
tag.
